Once a product is manufactured by Mobilia, designers, dealers, and end users can be confident that the line will never be dropped/discontinued. Mobilia wil continue to make any line for as long as necessary. Mobilia will also develop a custom line for any user, and that line will always be available.
Case study Modified Product #2
MOBILIA was asked to provide a solution for a customer that had standardized on a product that was no longer available through a discontinued product. The finish and details were matched, while still maintaining MOBILIAS quality and construction. The design is a mixture of MOBILIA Dieci and Quattro case good lines. For example, drawer pulls and a top cap on the work wall are taken from Dieci, while the lack of a base detail is a modification from the Quattro line. A custom 3” deep 1 ½” thick knife edge was also added. Additionally delivery was needed in three weeks from the date of the purchase order. Because of the flexibility of Mobilia’s production process this aggressive delivery schedule was met. Delivery and installation was on time and met the customer’s satisfaction.
Private offices were also provided and were under the same design and delivery constraints as the administration stations. A total of 5 different office configurations were produced . With both the admin and the private offices a deeper than normal drawer pull was needed. Because Mobilia manufactures all it’s own drawers, this accommodation was easily made.
The origin discontinued look of the product was matched, but Mobilia was able to incorporate some enhancements to the functionality of the product. Where two work surfaces met on the original product, a weak coped butt joint was used, but Mobilia used spline joint and mitered the hardwood edge detail giving a cleaner and stronger joint without the wear point and potential breaking of the coped joint. The back panels of the bridges and credenzas were also modified. Rather than cumbersome removable panels, as was the case on the existing furniture, hinged door access was provided.
